Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green went right after ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins after the Dubs defeated Memphis in six games.
Green is one of the more outspoken players in the modern NBA. He has a podcast, makes regular appearances on Inside the NBA, and surely won’t be riding off into the sunset once his playing days are over.
Draymond’s own personal rivalry with several media members is well-know. As for Perkins, the former NBA big man hasn’t shied away from calling out the game’s best. Well, if you dish it out, you best be able to take that criticism when the time comes.
“An ogre on TV talking. You got to come out and shut some guys up sometimes. ‘Anybody can make the pass Draymond made’ that’s just stupid. These are people who get employed to talk about our game. ‘Anybody can make the pass’ YOU make that pass. I’m talking about Kendrick Perkins by the way,” Green said.
Warriors: Draymond Green calls out Kendrick Perkins
Perkins responded on Twitter, seemingly upset that Green called him an ogre.
This is the modern NBA, folks. Can we get these two in a celebrity boxing match ASAP?
Green played an instrumental role in the Dubs Game 6 win, as he even convinced Mike Brown to start Kevon Looney. Golden State was out-rebounded and downright humiliated in Memphis, but on Friday night ensured a spot in the Western Conference Finals in part thanks to 22 boards from Looney.
Maybe — just maybe — Draymond knows what he’s doing. Using Perkins’ comments as motivation will only add fuel to the fire.
