Drake now recruiting Kawhi Leonard to stay in Toronto

The Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes are heating up, and the Toronto Raptors are sending in Canada’s biggest asset to recruit him — Drake.

The Toronto Raptors are feeling the heat in the Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes, and now, the team may have to send in the country’s biggest asset to convince King Kawhi to stay in Toronto.

It’s Drake time, baby.

According to a tweet from New York Times‘ NBA writer Marc Stein, Drake is mounting his own recruiting campaign to try to convince King Kawhi that Canada is the best place for him.

While some may make fun of Drake now jumping into the recruitment of Canada’s biggest icon, it actually makes a ton of sense for Drake to try to recruit Kawhi.

After all, LeBron James and Magic Johnson are going full stop in trying to get Kawhi to come back home and don the iconic purple and gold. The Clippers have whipped out billboards, everything they can to try to convince Leonard that they are the team he should pick.

Meanwhile, the Raptors have stayed cool, hoping that their recent run to the top of the NBA summit would be enough to convince King Kawhi to, at the very least, run one more season back with a talented supporting cast.

That was, however, until reports began to swirl that Kawhi was very interested in what the Lakers were building, and with Leonard already a made man (proving he could carry a team to a championship), there is some speculation that he wouldn’t mind paring up with LeBron and Anthony Davis in bringing glory back to the Staples Center.

Enter Drake, who is making it his personal responsibility to talk Kawhi into coming back to the Big Smoke and running it all back. Will Drake succeed? That remains to be seen.

If he can get it done, though, he should have a statue right next to King Kawhi in front of the Scotiabank Arena.
