Patrick Beverley’s recent tweets make Lakers trade even more savage

Patrick Beverley’s bad luck with trade news continued once again after he was dealt by the Los Angeles Lakers this year.

The Los Angeles Lakers were active in the week after the trade deadline. While they did lose out on acquiring Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks, they did make a big splash move by acquiring D’Angelo Russell from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a three-team trade also including the Utah Jazz. In that very trade, they moved Russell Westbrook to Utah, who move Mike Conley to Minnesota.

Lakers guard Patrick Beverley was pumped to receive the notification from ESPN that he was reuniting with Russell, his former Timberwolves teammate, tweeting out “the gang is back” with a red heart emoji.

Later on, Beverley tweeted out after ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Brooklyn Nets traded superstar Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal that “I see Woj been in the gym. He giving Shams trouble this year.”

Ironically, it was The Athletic’s Shams Charania to break the news that the Lakers were trading Beverley to the Orlando Magic in exchange for center Mo Bamba.

Lakers savagely trade Patrick Beverley after being excited about D’Angelo Russell deal

Wow. That was ironic. But, this isn’t the only time that Beverley had some bad luck with trade news.

Back in the summer of 2021, Beverley was traded by the Clippers to the Memphis Grizzlies. The veteran guard was excited about the trade, tweeting out “grit and grind. Let’s go.” Two days after that tweet, the Grizzlies traded Beverley to the Timberwolves in exchange for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez.

Beverley was dealt twice last offseason, going from Minnesota to the Utah Jazz as part of the huge Rudy Gobert trade. But, he was later traded to the Lakers in exchange for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson.

In 45 games played, Beverley averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 40.2 percent from the field.

Beverley seemed excited to play alongside Russell again on the Lakers. But, he was dealt to the Magic less than 24 hours later.
