Steph Curry says he understands why Tom Brady un-retired (Video)

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry jokingly said he understood why quarterback Tom Brady un-retired this offseason during his opening monologue at the ESPYS.

Every year, ESPN presents the ESPY Awards, which recognizes all of the achievements in sports in the calendar year. But, there is also a host for the event. This year, it was Golden State Warriors star and reigning NBA Finals MVP Stephen Curry.

As is the case with any host, Curry opened up the ceremony with a monologue, where he cracked jokes in front of those in attendance and those viewing at home. Curry talked about why he keeps filling up his schedule this offseason, which included hosting the ESPY awards. Curry said that after celebrating three kids’ birthdays in two weeks, he understands why quarterback Tom Brady un-retired.

Curry continued, saying that Brady is the only person that he knows that would “rather get hit by Aaron Donald than hang out with a super model.”

One of the biggest news in sports earlier this year was Brady announcing his retirement from the NFL. This happened after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated by the eventual Super Bowl champions in the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round despite a miraculous second-half comeback.

Brady’s retirement lasted approximately one month before revealing that he would be returning to the Buccaneers. There was some change following his return, however.

Bruce Arians made the move to a front office position, and defensive coordinator Todd Bowles replaced him as head coach. Brady’s longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski retired for the second time.

Brady will look to lead the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years. They have a decent shot at it, considering the AFC has a much tougher path to the big game than the NFC.
