Allen Iverson wants to know why the Philadelphia 76ers haven’t hired him

Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson questions why the team hasn’t hired him for a position.

It’s not the easiest task to be a professional athlete in the City of Brotherly Love. The fanbase will turn on one of their own in a quick minute. One player that fans will defend to the end, though, is Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson. He was the No. 1 pick in the 1996 NBA draft and spent 10 years with the organization before returning in 2009 during his final season in the league.

In a recent interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, Iverson expressed his desire to help out in some capacity with Philadelphia.

Allen Iverson wonders why the Philadelphia 76ers haven’t shown an interest in hiring him

Allen entered the professional basketball realm as a 76er and played his last game in Philadelphia. His loyalty to the franchise is still just as strong as it was whenever he took the court for the final time in 2010.

Iverson’s No. 3 jersey hangs in the rafters at Wells Fargo Center, but there’s still one thing that he feels like he’s missing. What could it possibly be? A job with the 76ers.

“I’m a Sixer for life. I got Sixer blood pumping through me. Everybody knows that I want to help that organization. I’ve been retired, what, 11 years? I don’t know how I’m not a part of that staff, some kind of way.”

Rooks mentioned something as simple as a consultant role with Philadelphia, and Allen said that he would be satisfied with that. The 76ers could use a former player like Iverson, who would without a doubt keep it real with the players and coaches.

‘The Answer’ could be one of the answers to the success that Philadelphia has so desperately been trying to grasp.
