4 NBA teams that are interested in stealing John Collins in free agency

The John Collins wheel of fortune is spinning and he has four teams who are looking to court him into making that move during free agency.

John Collins was a force to be reckoned with this year, especially in the playoffs. He put people on notice with 13.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 35.7 percent from beyond the arc during the Atlanta Hawks‘ run to the Eastern Conference Finals. He was a terror to say the least for every team the Hawks met in the playoffs.

But now, the Hawks are out of the playoffs, and Collins has all the time in the world to focus on what’s staring him down in the face: The fact that he has multiple teams who want him in their uniform next season, according to The Athletic.

Four other NBA teams want John Collins

According to the latest report, the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs are all willing to court Collins. Atlanta can match any offer for their restricted free agent, but if a max offer sheet comes in for Collins, will the Hawks be willing to match?

Dallas is young, ready to work, and similar to the dynamic of Atlanta. They have Luka Doncic, and Collins would be a great complementary piece thanks to his above-the-rim athleticism and strong perimeter shooting. Minnesota could be fun, since they’re also young and Collins would have two young stars he could feed off of in Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards.

Miami could benefit from landing Collins. Head coach Erik Spoelstra, Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler can give guidance that would prove to be fruitful in tweaking his game to be more consistent. And then there’s the Spurs, who are more than able to work on the exact fundamentals needed to do the same.

With free agency rapidly approaching in a few weeks, this is the time to weigh out the options.
