The Miami Heat are the 2020 Eastern Conference Champions.
The most magical place on Earth has been home to one of the most unlikely playoff runs in NBA history. Erik Spoelstra and the Miami Heat have stared down the very best the Eastern Conference, and they’ve beaten every single one of them.
The No. 5 seed Heat’s unreal run in the postseason has landed them in the NBA Finals. Jimmy Butler and Miami polished off a 125-113 win over Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics to seal a six-game victory in the Eastern Conference Finals. While Boston battled back from an early deficit, Miami caught fire late in the fourth quarter to put Boston away. Miami will not take on LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals.
The Miami Heat were led by Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo
Butler contributed 22 points against a normally stout Boston defense, while Tyler Herro once again showed off that he is one of the best sixth men in the league by adding 19. Duncan Robinson managed 15 points on five three-pointers.
In the end, it was Bam Adebayo who ended up as the hero today for Miami. The former Kentucky Wildcat beat up on a normally stout defensive center in Daniel Theis, leading the team with 32 points while chipping in 14 rebounds. In these playoffs, Adebayo has reached benchmarks that only LeBron James has reached in Heat history prior to this series.
Miami’s improbable run to the Finals will either end in a victory that confirms them as one of the greatest Cinderella stories in sports history or a squad who ran out of pixie dust against LeBron James and the Lakers. Given how this series went, Miami will fight for every inch in these Finals.
