Phoenix Suns GM says no timetable for Eric Bledsoe deal

NBA fans may have to wait a while for an Eric Bledsoe trade to come to fruition.

It seems that it may take a while for the Phoenix Suns to trade disgruntled point guard Eric Bledsoe. The team has been fielding offers for a week now since sending Bledsoe home following a cryptic tweet and a subsequent meeting with Suns executives. Bledsoe has not appeared in a game for Phoenix since the team’s Oct. 21 matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Suns are likely finding a lukewarm market for Bledsoe because the rest of the league is well aware that the guard wants out of the desert. Phoenix has probably seen their fair share of subpar offers as teams attempt to provide pennies on the dollar for a quality player. With Bledsoe uninvolved in team activities, there is really no rush to trade him.

Suns GM Ryan McDonough told azcentral sports that there is currently no timetable for a trade, which means the organization is taking a wait-and-see approach, hoping the market will warm up.

A story on ESPN.com identifies the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks as teams reportedly interested in trading for Bledsoe. Each of these organizations appears to have intriguing young assets that could interest a Phoenix team in rebuilding mode.

For a trade to New York to work, Phoenix would likely need Knicks point guard Frank Ntilikina to be included. That seems like something the Knicks would be reluctant to do, as the organization considers the rookie to be a big part of their future. It’s more likely that New York would part with center Willy Hernangomez, a second-year big that showed considerable promise in his rookie season.

Milwaukee is looking to win now, and Bledsoe would appear to be a good fit there. Phoenix may have interest in Bucks youngsters Malcolm Brogdon and Thon Maker. Brogdon is the reigning Rookie of the Year but lacks the enticing upside of Maker, and prying Maker away may prove challenging for the Suns. It’s unclear if the Bucks are willing to part with either player in a deal for Bledsoe, but it’s difficult to see Phoenix having a strong interest in anyone else on the roster.

Denver has been the most talked-about team as a Bledsoe destination, and there have been rumors about a deal centered around young point guard Emmanuel Mudiay. All reports have indicated that the Nuggets won’t part with Jamal Murray, but they also appear to be the team most in need of Bledsoe’s services as they eye a playoff berth.
