Dwyane Wade may be headed for a banana boat reunion in Cleveland after reaching a buyout in Chicago.
Over the weekend the Chicago Bulls reached a buyout with veteran guard Dwyane Wade. The former NBA champion and All-Star will now become a free agent. There are apparently four suitors for Wade according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The front runner appears to be the Cleveland Cavaliers and best friend LeBron James. Rumors have been rampant all summer that once Wade was bought out in Chicago, it was only a matter of time before he would end up on the Cavaliers.
While the Heat and Spurs can offer Wade the most money, the Cavaliers have reportedly offered Wade a starting spot.
Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype was told that the Cavaliers will start if and when he signs to play for Cleveland. Kennedy seems excited about the prospects of that happening.
The Cavaliers have new faces all over the court, especially at point guard. Isaiah Thomas will be another former All-Star that LeBron James gets to play alongside. If Wade does decide to join the team that would make a former All-Star in four of five starting positions. They could push that to all five with Korver or Rose in place of Thompson.
On the court, Wade still has some gas left in his tank. He is no longer the uber-athletic slashing guard who could be a secondary playmaker. Playing alongside James, he will continue to be asked to make his signature cuts to the basket and run the floor.
Wade, a three time All-NBA defensive player, has certainly slipped on thae end. The already weak Cavaliers defense will hope playing with James under a lighter minute load can return Wade to form.
Cleveland can offer Wade a starting spot and the easiest path to the Finals. With the other three suitors in the Western Conference, the Warriors would be waiting. The Cavaliers and Wade are likely headed for a partnership.
