Golden State Warriors, NBA Free Agency

Warriors to re-sign JaVale McGee

The Golden State Warriors continue to bring the band back together from last year’s championship team, now re-signing JaVale McGee to a contract.

While the Cleveland Cavaliers continue to fight fires within their organization, the Golden State Warriors are quietly re-signing their players. The Warriors released a press statement earlier this week, stating they re-signed Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and Zaza Pachulia. Oh and they also added Nick “Swaggy P” Young and Omri Casspi during free agency.

The rich just continue to get richer, as according to ESPN’s Chris B. Haynes, the Warriors are re-signing fan-favorite JaVale McGee to a contract.

The Warriors’ front-court depth primarily depended on Zaza Pachulia and younger, unproven players such as Damian Jones and Jordan Bell. Now they’re adding some experience to the inside with McGee.

Last season with the Warriors, McGee was a key force off the bench as an energy player. He was a crowd-favorite, throwing down lobs and getting rebounds for extra possessions. His contributions go far past the nightly box score.

General manager Bob Myers and owner Joe Lacob have done one helluva job putting together a squad that will likely repeat for the 2018 NBA Championship. They were the overwhelming favorites as soon as Curry and Durant agreed to return, but the gap is only widening.

The Warriors have a great combination of youth and veterans with playoff experience. While the Rockets added Chris Paul and Oklahoma City added Paul George, what the Warriors have done is unprecedented.

They lost one game in the playoffs, and they might not lose another one in next year’s NBA playoffs. Tell the fans in the Bay Area, the band is back together! The Warriors are re-signing JaVale McGee.

Let’s see how Steve Kerr manages all the minutes with such a talented squad. That’s first-world problems right there.
