Kyrie Irving pours gasoline on the fire, mocks LeBron James on Snapchat

Rumors that Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving and LeBron James have a strained relationship could’ve been taken to another level.

Ah 2017, where the internet has become the place that never forgets. Where subtweets go to flourish, and teammate relationships go to die.

On his way home from a trip in China, Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving took to Snapchat, where he posted a video of him singing Skylar Grey’s “I’m Coming Home.” Under any other circumstance, say last week for example, the video would’ve been innocuous.

But it isn’t last week and it’s not other circumstances. Reports have surfaced that Irving wants to be traded from the Cavs, and his issues with playing alongside LeBron and not the other way around are suggested to be the main culprit.

The James-Irving relationship has had its moments of strain, mostly because Irving has lived in the heavy shadow of one of the NBA’s best players ever. For one, Irving signed a max extension with the Cavs back in 2014, after sending mix signals on his desire to be there, before the King swooped in and stole back the hometown spotlight.

Is Irving’s rendition of Grey’s song a series of shots fired at James? It’s possible. There are parts of the video that suggests so. For one, he breaks character toward the end and a person in the background can be heard laughing. Also, LeBron has been known to send those LeBron-type messages through music videos on social media.

For another, James’ connection with both that song and that phrase are well documented. He ended his Sports Illustrated piece with “I’m coming home.” And, if you remember, the Cavs held a welcome back party where Grey performed her song.  Regardless of the true intentions, it seems the Cavaliers are becoming more toxic by the day.
