Knicks pursuing Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight


As the Knicks pursue a new point guard for their lineup, Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight have come up as possible names to fill the void.

With the New York Knicks in desperate need of a point guard with Derrick Rose likely on the way out, seemingly every point guard this offseason has come up as a potential solution for the Knicks. Now, you can add Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe to that list.

With Rose and Rajon Rondo already as targets for the position, along with failed pursuits of Jrue Holiday and Jeff Teague already done, Knight and Bledsoe join the ranks of potential Knicks point guards for next season. Now, the question becomes whether or not anything actually comes from it.

According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, the Knicks brought up the potential of trading for Knight with the Phoenix Suns this week, and Bledsoe came up in the conversation, as well.

According to the report, Carmelo Anthony may have been a trade piece up for discussion during the talks, which wouldn’t align with the superstar forward’s list of destinations that he’d like to end up in this summer.

The team is currently going back and forth between looking at getting rid of Anthony in a trade, while also trying to keep him at the same time.

Bledsoe averaged 21 points a night for the Suns last season, along with 6.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds a game, while Knight averaged 11 points and 2.4 assists per game last year. Both would be useful additions to the lineup for the Knicks, with Bledsoe providing a veteran presence, should Anthony get shipped off at some point this offseason.

Now, the waiting game begins, and we’ll have to see if this Knicks point guard rumor actually comes through as legitimate with an actual end result, or if it fades away into the distance like all of the other pursuits so far this offseason.
