Atlanta Hawks, NBA Free Agency, NBA Trade Rumors

Hawks will not have Paul Millsap next season

After four successful seasons with the Hawks, Paul Millsap is probably on his way out of Atlanta.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, there is a mutual feeling between Paul Millsap and the Atlanta Hawks that they do not want to be associated next season.

Paul Millsap has had the best seasons of his career in a Hawks jersey. His only four All-Star appearances came in his four years with Atlanta. However, his days there are numbered.

There is a lot of interest in Millsap from other teams, according to Windhorst. The Phoenix Suns are willing to give him a max deal for a period of less than four years. Additionally, the Denver Nuggets are interested in the power forward, as well.

Furthermore, the Houston Rockets, who have been very busy this week, could also chase Millsap if they can make room for him.

Windhorst believes the most likely avenue for the Hawks and Millsap is through a sign-and-trade. Millsap. He says these talks have already begun. This will be a move to watch for when free agency officially begins on July 1.

There is no doubt that Paul Millsap will bring a lot to wherever he lands. Last season, he boasted a career high in scoring at 18.1 points per game. He consistently grabs at least 7.5 rebounds per game. He can cause trouble for any team because of the way he can stretch out past the three-point line.

Millsap would make a lot of sense in Phoenix where size has been an issue. They drafted Marquese Chriss in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft, but his experience is obviously minimal. Chriss plays very similarly to Millsap and could use the wisdom of the 32-year-old to grow his own game. Furthermore, he could simply add experience to the youngest team in the NBA.
