Hornets’ Malik Monk says he’ll beat Michael Jordan 1-on-1

The Charlotte Hornets selected Malik Monk with the 11th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, and the guard thinks he’ll beat team owner Michael Jordan 1-on-1

Malik Monk fell to the Charlotte Hornets like a godsend in the 2017 NBA Draft. In need of shooting on the wing or a big man (somehow), the thought was that Monk wouldn’t be there. But with a few trades shaking things up in the top 10, the Kentucky product was there waiting for them. He’s great value and a great fit — so everything you look for on draft night.

The sweet-shooting guard now heading to Buzz City, which should be huge for the team. Owner Michael Jordan has to be thrilled about the new addition. However, there have been plenty of stories about the greatest of all time and his players, including 1-on-1 challenges and so on. And in a game of 1-on-1 between Monk and Jordan, the incoming rookie likes his chances.

When asked about his new team owner that he’ll be playing for, Monk had this to say about how he thinks he’d fare:

The laughter at the end of that makes you wonder if Monk wholly believes that. But considering that Jordan is now 54 years old, maybe the Kentucky product does have a chance in a 1-on-1 matchup. At the very least, he could just stand 30 feet away from the basket and bomb threes. He does that from time to time in games, so why not when taking on the greatest player to ever live.

Regardless of how a 1-on-1 matchup would go, Jordan mostly cares about 5-on-5 in NBA action. And Malik Monk will surely help his ball club in that regard. He’s a blessing to have been there at No. 11, now the hope is that he continues being such.
